Why paint and not use wallpaper

October 9th, 2008 by nicedad

I wonder who ever wants to cover room with wallpaper instead of painting? I have always painted every room I have renovated. Yes I have put wallpapers in few rooms but I hate it. The most difficult job is to remove those old wallpapers. There can be numerous layers of that sticky old wallpaper and it wount come of the wall at any cost. Painting is so much easier to renovate when doing a new design to a room. Baby nurseries often change when the baby gets older so painting is my choise when considering a wall colors.

The easiest way to remove old wallpaper or many layers of old wallpaper is to make it very wet. You can use wet newspapers and put them on to the wall. The moist will infiltrate into the old wallpapers and it is much easier to remove that wet wallpaper than a dry one. Remember to use a wide paddle when removing that old and wet wallpaper. Be carefull when using sharp corners on soft gypsum walls when dealing with paddle. When you have removed all wallpapers you should sand the entire wall so that there isn’t a single piece left from the wallpaper. After sanding wash it with water or sweep with soft broom so that there is no dust at the wall.

After cleaning the wall you can start painting. But before painting you shloud make the wall flat. Then you can start with simple white base color so that all the dark areas and different color spots have become unvisible. After the base color paint it few times with the selected color. I prefer light colors but also dark brown could go well with white furniture. Use your imagination. Even if you deside to paint the walls you can use a banderol on the top of the wall or on the middle. There can be funny or cute pictures on that banderol that goes around the room.

Here are some good ideas for a pink baby nursery for you to choose from. I collected these photos from flickr and they are so awesome that you will definetily get some very good ideas from creative people. I like all these rooms and will take ideas from them when decorating next time baby rooms. Currenty our color selections is pink and yellow for girl and green and orange and light blue for a boy room. This time we focus on girls nurserys.

Pink bumber pads and dark brown ribbons are a great color match together. I think that pink and brown goes very well together when selecting fabrics for baby nursaries.

Here you can see a great way to make a simple self to feel like a girls room. There is only a white self and different pink colored stuff on it. You can easily change that color scheme when you remove all those stuff from the self and replace it with different color stuff. So easy to change color theme with simple tactics.

Nice lamp cover matched with curtains and chair.

Cute little bears and dolls that go well with the colors of the fabric and blankets. Remember to select good colors when selecting dolls and bears to baby nursary rooms. You can easily give a nice touch to a one color if you use different colors with it. Remember to select some artifacts where the primary color of the room is not the primary color of the item. Even small amounts of one color can really make a difference.

A little special for your girl - Disney Princess

Disney Princess is a great resource to choose a girls nursery room from. There are literally hundreds of choices to make a perectly decorated room with disney princess. The different princesses can give you so many theme options it could be even hard to choose from. Snow White, Ariel and Cinderella are just few of the choices you can pick from.

One good theme could be a underwater theme with blue and green. You could use all the colors from the ocean with Ariel theme. Usually princess themes are more like Cinderella style with pink and white but this underwater theme can give you more colors to pick from.

Light colors like pink and blue are perfect for the castle like princesses. Cinderella and Sleaping Beauty are traditional princess themes for kids rooms. Those two movies are great to watch too. There is just so many different products you can choose from when decorating with this theme. I think these two themes will never go out of fashion though they are very old films and can be still found from video stores and rentals.

Cars theme for nursery room

October 3rd, 2008 by nicedad

Disney pixar Cars is few years old movie but still very popular among kids. The cars have made a great effort on merchandising the brand and there are thousands off products from the cars movie. Lighting McQueen is the most popular car in the movie but there are even good girly cars too. You would think that cars is definitely a boys theme but you could do a very girl like decorating with Sally - the blue girl Porsche that Lighting McQueen likes.

Car themes are probably best with a little older kids when they can watch the movie and really enjoy these themed rooms even better. But if you are like me and love those Pixar animations you could put few cars figurs in the room to make a certain kind of atmosphere in the room. What could be more cooler than have a few big figures from the Cars movie at a self when the little one takes her beauty snap after eating. Don’t go overboard or else you will hate it afterwards.

There are many nice things you could get for a bedding theme with the movie cars. Don’t let prejudices control you when you are designing or decorating a nursery room. The more unique you go the better the outcome could look like. If you have any doubts use a professional designer and give him your thoughts what you think would look nice. If money is an obstacle then just make small steps and plan good before you buy anything.

Green can be a good neutral room color on the walls and stuff what you put on your babys nursery room. If you don’t know the gender of the soon to born child you can go safe with green color. It’s the basic color for boys and girls and works like a charm. So judge your self with these nursery rooms that has the green color as the primary color in the room.

Nice green color on the walls but this is a definitely a girls room because of the pink clothes and lamp. The green is also a little too light and bright for a boys room. Nice colors tough to a girls room.

This green room is perfect fit to both a girl and boys room. This color is just the perfect wall paint color for both genders. Those nice items on the shelf are nice and can be fitted with both boys and girls.

This is perfect green stuff stuffed room. The picture where is the wall showing is a great exsample that you don’t have to paint the entire wall to get the green atmosphere in the room. It could be easily changed because you don’t need to paint the entire wall when repainting. Those items are also great with this greenish room. Definitely a fav for me!

Do you want to know if it is a boy or girl?

September 16th, 2008 by nicedad

The baby is on its way and you could know what gender it is. The question is do you want to know before hand which one is it? Is it a she or he? Both ways are justified when you are thinking the alternatives of knowing the gender before the birth.

In baby room decorating you can go either way. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know the gender of your soon to becoming child. There are many ways to make a baby nursery room neutral in the sake of gender. You can use gender free color or neutral colors if you want to play it safe. Today there even isn’t boy or girl only colors. You can use soft and neutral colors almost every way you can.

If you prefer to go to ultra sound and check the gender before birth then you can more easily select the theme of your baby’s nursery room. The possibilities to decorate the room just expands so much when you know which gender the baby is going to be. Usually dark and fast paced colors are boys favourite colors. It is better to still use neutral colors when the baby is small and adopting to the new enviroment at home. He or she has never seen colors and all the things in the big big world so coloring the room nice and calm can help the baby to adjust better.

There are many aspects of choosing the right colors for your baby when decorating the nursery room. The more you want to be gender specific the more you have to know about the gender of the baby. If you are unsure or the doctor can’t see the gender clearly you could wait for the biggest decorations before the birth. Or you can go neutral and not to use any girls or boys specific colors at the nursery room. You will have time to redo that room many times when taking care of the newborn through the years to come.
