Why paint and not use wallpaper
I wonder who ever wants to cover room with wallpaper instead of painting? I have always painted every room I have renovated. Yes I have put wallpapers in few rooms but I hate it. The most difficult job is to remove those old wallpapers. There can be numerous layers of that sticky old wallpaper and it wount come of the wall at any cost. Painting is so much easier to renovate when doing a new design to a room. Baby nurseries often change when the baby gets older so painting is my choise when considering a wall colors.
The easiest way to remove old wallpaper or many layers of old wallpaper is to make it very wet. You can use wet newspapers and put them on to the wall. The moist will infiltrate into the old wallpapers and it is much easier to remove that wet wallpaper than a dry one. Remember to use a wide paddle when removing that old and wet wallpaper. Be carefull when using sharp corners on soft gypsum walls when dealing with paddle. When you have removed all wallpapers you should sand the entire wall so that there isn’t a single piece left from the wallpaper. After sanding wash it with water or sweep with soft broom so that there is no dust at the wall.
After cleaning the wall you can start painting. But before painting you shloud make the wall flat. Then you can start with simple white base color so that all the dark areas and different color spots have become unvisible. After the base color paint it few times with the selected color. I prefer light colors but also dark brown could go well with white furniture. Use your imagination. Even if you deside to paint the walls you can use a banderol on the top of the wall or on the middle. There can be funny or cute pictures on that banderol that goes around the room.
I couldn’t agree more…I bought a fixer-upper with wallpaper literally in every room. It was a pain to remove. I will never go through that again. Stick to paint especially in a baby’s room.
